A kid's movie - Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Reviews
I just finished watching this on ABC and caught it as the children were arriving to the school in small boats. It's a good kid's movie, but I was disappointed as it didn't meet my expectations. (Keep in mind this movie was released in 2001, and I'm just now seeing it in 2004, AFTER hearing all the hoopla about it.)
This movie may have been better if it weren't for all those ABC commericals. How many times do viewers need to be tortured by the same three commercials, Dove, Chrystler, & Degree.
The ending left me disappointed. I guess I was expecting the stone to be much larger since it was protected by such a LARGE 3 Headed Dog. I, also, wasn't expecting Harry Potter to find the stone in his pocket after all he had gone through.
The Visual Effects get the highest rating from me. I liked the disappearing cloth. The vilan's face coming out of the backside of one of the professor's head was cool.
I'm not left to want to rush out and see the 2nd movie. I know the kids were wanting to though. By the time the 3rd one is released, it's fame will have dithered. Too much competition to wait to long to release the sequals.
This movie is fitting for Pre-Teens and maybe the younger teens.
